I am in contact with Pandora One who tells me that there web page encryprs and transmits just the credit card card data even though the URL is not preceded by HTTPS. Is this possible or are they blowing smoke??

Hey everybody.

I'm a new user on your forum, because i was looking all over google for

some answers but i couldn't find it. So i thought i might get help here.

I had an excellent idea (like a week or two ago) while i was sitting at home

with a baby, to open my own web shop. So as i started.. but then i google

more for all the information about safety and stuff... now i know that i need to have an SSL.

Just installed a new wildcard cert. On mac safari and chrome don't throw any errors but firefox complains:

The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.

This is my first time trying to impliment using an SSL certificate so I'm really not too familiar with them at all. I am trying to get the certificate to work on an Amazon server. I did some research and found out that in order to do this I need to create my own domain that points to the Amazon server. The reason for this is because you are not allowed to directly impliment the certificates through an Amazon server.

When applying for the SSL I used the command, openssl req -new -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -keyout server.key -out server.csr, with the Amazon server replacing server. When I get asked the questions I input the pointer domain that I bought (i.e. www.pointer.com) for the common name. It then genereated the csr and key files that got approved by godaddy and I was issued my certificate.

I then went through the few steps to install your certificate on your apache server and everything seemed to go correctly. When I restart the server and run the validation to see if it had worked it doesn't seem to be working correctly.

If anyone could please help me it would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if I used the correct information when generating the key or if the method of having a domain that just points to your server is the correct thing to do here.

Hello.

I have signed certificate stored in cert.pem file. Also I have private key stored in iPhoneMyBase64PrivateKey.pem. Then I can use the fillowing openSSL comand:

$openssl pkcs12 -export -out certificate.pfx -inkey iPhoneMyBase64PrivateKey.pem -in cert.pem

to create certificate.pfx, that could be properly installed into iPhone system security stoarage as Security Profile.

How to create this pfx file from cert and privatekey without openSSL ? because I need to create it programmatycally on iPhone.

I already familiar with ASN.1, I've already read different pdf's at rsa laboratories and etc. But there are a lot of different options, and I can not understand what parts should be encrypted, with what keys, what parts should be signed and so on.

So, is it possible to find somewhere somekind of step-by-step guide:

1) Encypt signed cert with public key

2) Create key safebag

.....

...) add octet string with BER encoding

.....

...) Concatenate all data in SEQUENCE

and so on

Any information will be the great help: comments, links and so on.

I was actually looking for a SSL deployment topology where my private clients (only these clients) will access my private server hosted in internet. I was looking for learning the ssl deployment ref. guides but ended up with a information in ssl internal and more complex encryptions and all. I dont want to learn the whole internals, but they helped me well in understanding things.

I think, i can generate some certificates and can use it for my client-server communication, but need clarifications like,

- should i only need a server certificate for this?

- a single clinet side certificate can be uised for all the clients?

looking for a simepl plain english answers (by now i have seen several web sites/pages dumping off a lot technical things but none of them - may be i must have missed some thing - were speaking englesh !)

I get to my webmail using https and cpanel port 2096. A dialog tells me the certificate authority is not trusted and asks if it's okay to proceed. I say yes. I am then able to connect to my webmail but I do not get a "secure" indication from the browser. The URL still says https. Is the connection encrypted? Thanks.
