can an SSL Certificate be purchased if the domain name has been purchased elsewhere

+1 vote

I would like to know if a domain name which has been purchased elsewhere, whether, an SSL Certificate can still be purchased from you?

(2) How is the SSL created and added where there is a shopping cart?

(3) What does an IP have to do with SSL Certificate?

Thank you, meanwhile, I look forward to hear from you  at your earliest convenience.

Best regards

1) Yes you can buy a certificate from any CA including SSL.com even if you purchased your domain elsewhere.

2) SSL is added to the server software hosting your website. To activate the ssl, just type https:// instead of http:// in the address bar.

3) An SSL certificate has to be bound to an ip address. So a rule of thunb is 1 ip address per ssl certificate (although you can have several SSL certs on a single ip address using SNI, but that is for another discussion).

Hope that help!
