E-commerce website must have an easily navigable structure. Keywords must be well optimized. It should have a SSL certificate from a trusted security firm.

Yes ! I agree with you markdaniel69  . For a e-commerce website , SSL certificate is more essential .  it is your responsibility to make sure the information you collect from your customers is protected. This will shield you and your customers by making sure that no one can intercept and misuse their credit card information.
Your customers are providing you with very important and personal information that allows access to their hard earned money. If an identity thief gets access to your customer’s credit card information because you didn’t take the necessary precautions, it can be devastating to you and to your customer. Your customers need to know that you value their security and privacy and are serious about protecting their information. e-commerce website which don't have ssl certificate is not trusted by customers. Customers would like to keep their confidential information in a safe manner . They don't want to be get hacked . If ssl encryption is turned-off, surely it reduce the online customers . It is always important for ecommerce website owner to built a website that fits into his budget and can generate better ROI. Here are my suggestions that is important for ecommerce website:

  • SSL enabled transection and customer information security
  • Search engine friendly CMS (custom ecommerce) framwork.
  • best product catalogue and best offer price
  • Unique product description along with product image can help more
  • Google & other important product display account (Google product feed submission).

Apart from this; if you are having multiple sub-domain, i strongly recommend going for wildcard SSL (that can secure your multiple sub domain with single ssl).
